Kaylee: 6 Months

At her six month appointment Kaylee weighed in at 15 lbs and 7 oz (30%) and measured 26.25" (60%) and she is one happy little girl!

Here are her funny little quirks/accomplishments
  • She can make the craziest noises - they're kind of impossible to describe - but they're hilarious
  • She's a total spaz (we call her spaz-bucket)
  • She loves to climb all over her mommy (that's when we call her monkey)
  • She has TWO TEETH! And they're super sharp
  • She can sit up which means mommy can step away for a few minutes to actually accomplish something while she sits and plays
  • Her giggles are infectious
  • She loves to stick out her tongue
  • Her favorite place to be is on her daddy's shoulders
  • She gives kisses by trying to eat our cheeks
  • She can play 'peek a boo' and loves it!
  • Besides her toes, her daddy's glasses are one of her favorite chew toys
  • She loves to eat grown up food and would rather feed herself than let anyone feed her
  • She's quiet around large groups of people but once she's with mom or dad alone she's LOUD and loves to jabber away
  • Walks in her strollers are her favorite past time - she loves looking at all the squirrels in our complex
  • She really wants to crawl but isn't quite there yet
  • She snuggles with mommy a lot - morning naps are her favorite when she gets to snuggle next to mommy (mommy likes them too so she can get an extra hour of sleep!)
  • She still has the biggest eyes!
  • She loves her bear and her 'friend in the mirror'
  • Her favorite blanket is the one her great-grandma knitted for her before Kaylee was even thought of (when mommy was really little)
  • She is a fish - she loves the water and bath time is her favorite 'cause we let her swim around and play in the water well after she's finished getting clean
All in all, our little Kaylee is too much fun and we can't get enough of her!

Blessing Dress

I'm blessed to have amazing "crafters" in my family. My mom is AMAZING at sewing and quilting and made Kaylee this blessing dress for her as well as the yellow and white quilt that has served as the backdrop for all of Kaylee's monthly photos. Isn't it a beautiful dress?! I hope my mom can forgive me for taking so long to get photos of Kaylee in it. We went to Utah when Kaylee was two month old for her blessing and there was so much going on that I never had the chance to take any proper photos. Luckily Kaylee still fits in the dress! Kaylee hasn't grown to be much of a "chunker" but instead has just grown extremely long so it still fit her around her waist! Oh, happy day!

We might try to get a few more photos of Kaylee in her dress on another day when Garrett is home - Kaylee is such a mover and while she can't sit up yet on her own (her upper body is so long that she just wobbles!) she just can't seem to sit still - which is why there's only a few actual photos of Kaylee in the dress and more of the dress. (I literally only took about 12 photos of Kaylee in the dress! These are the ones that were in focus 'cause she's such a wiggle-butt!)

Oh, and the white blanket around Kaylee in her pictures? Made by my Grandma Packard. She's made one for all of her grandchildren for their first child. I remember her making mine when I was around the age of eight. It's been tucked away safely for all these years and I'm so happy to finally let Kaylee use it! She loves it - probably because there's lots of holes for her to grab on to (I gotta watch her with it to make sure she doesn't do anything to it!). But I truly love this blanket. It's so wonderful that all three of these pieces can be passed on - what a wonderful memory for me and Kaylee to have!

Love you Mom and Grandma!!

5 Months Old!

It’s crazy how much Kaylee has grown as well as how much our love for our little girl has grown too! She makes me happier and happier every day and I feel so blessed to have her in my life.
Not every day is easy, but she makes it all worth it when she laughs, gives me smiles, and tries to kiss me back (which looks a lot like her eating my face).
She’s such an independent little miss and I see her personality is a lot like mine – which may or may not be a good thing. She loves to eat like a big girl (yup, we’ve already moved to rice cereal – she’s hungry ALL THE TIME) and usually gets angry if I’m eating and she’s not (she’s constantly grabbing for my food and waterbottle). And she really likes to “feed” herself – which means she likes to shove her spoon into her mouth along with as many fingers as possible and suck on all of them at the same time.
And don’t get me started on cell phones – I try not to use mine when I’m playing with her/when she’s awake. But every time she sees it she just wants to play with it. And she know the difference between my phone and our old non-working phones that look almost the exact same. Oy vey!
She loves to jabber to herself and to me but is still shy/quiet around others.
She loves her daddy, even though she gives him a hard time when he tries to put her to bed.
She loves to snuggle – about once a day she won’t go down for a nap unless I lay down with her on our bed and hold her close. She takes her hands and grabs my cheeks and pats my face and holds my hands to her face. It’s so sweet!
And she likes to be tickled – a lot. I know all the best places and she’s even started to laugh when I “threaten” to tickle her. She smiles when we come and get her in the morning/after naps and loves to fold in half to eat her feet.
Her favorite tricks include rolling over, hanging upside down with Daddy, playing on Daddy’s shoulders, and is really good at spitting/buzzing her lips (not sure if there’s a word for it).
All in all, she’s one amazing, sweet, happy (most of the time) little girl. And she’s ours! And we love her! A WHOLE LOT!
